Introducing Home Efficiency Rebate Plus: Enhanced Savings for Energy-Saving Retrofits

Enbridge Gas and Canada’s Greener Homes Grant have partnered to provide the Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Plus
program, offering rebates for eligible retrofits such as home insulation, windows and doors, heat pumps, and renewable energy
systems. The program provides eligible homeowners with rebates of up to $10,000 for energy-saving upgrades. Current Enbridge
Gas customers who use natural gas for heating can take advantage of these enhanced rebates. Additionally, participants can
receive an extra rebate of $600 to offset the cost of their EnerGuide home evaluation.

Work Process

How the Program Works.

Our step-by-step process will guide you towards creating an energy-efficient home.

The assigned energy advisor will provide a custom report with recommended upgrades.

Step 3

Complete at least one eligible upgrade from the recommendation’s upgrades.

Step 4

Schedule a follow-up home energy assessment with your energy advisor.

Step 5

Receive your rebate cheque, including up to $600 for the assessments.

More Ontarians now qualify.

delivery, enabling eligible homeowners to access benefits seamlessly through a single application and streamlined process, regardless of their home heating fuel type

How the Program Works.

Homeowners whose primary residence is space heated with Enbridge Gas natural gas are eligible for rebates.

Enbridge Gas Customers with Tenants (Landlord-Owned)

FAQ about Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HERX)

Can I still get enhanced rebates if I have already applied for the Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) program or Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG)?

If you applied for HER or the CGHG program before Jan 1, 2023 you may be eligible for additional rebates through the new Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) program which is co-delivered through the Canada Greener Homes Grant & Enbridge Gas. Since the HER program has ended, if you qualify for one of the new measures, and had your first audit after April 2020, you will be automatically transferred to the new program. Please speak with your Registered Energy Advisor if you have any concerns.

If you completed your post-retrofit energy assessment before Jan 1, 2023, you will receive the rebates as discussed by your Registered Energy Advisor at your post-retrofit assessment.

How long will the program run?

The Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) program, including the co-delivery of the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG), is planned to run until 2027.

Can I participate if I am not an Enbridge Gas customer?

The Canada Greener Homes Grant program, delivered through Home Efficiency Rebate Plus, is open to all Ontario homeowners who are primary residents of the home, regardless of their energy provider. This includes homeowners using natural gas, oil, propane, electricity, or wood as their primary heating fuel, regardless of whether they are Enbridge Gas customers or not. Enbridge Gas customers are eligible for additional rebates provided exclusively by Enbridge Gas.

Do I have to pay for the home energy assessment?

While homeowners are responsible for covering the upfront cost of the pre-retrofit and post-retrofit energy assessments, these costs will be offset by a single rebate of up to $600 once you complete the program. You must complete at least one recommended and eligible retrofit to receive the rebate for the assessment costs.
